A Time Dependent Numerical Leptonic Model for γ-ray Emitting Microquasars - Application to LS 5039

چکیده
HESS has recently detected Very High Energy (VHE) γ-ray emission and its orbital modulation for the high mass X-ray binary and microquasar candidate LS 5039. Part, but not all of this orbital modulation can be attributed to the γγ absorption of the VHE γ-rays in the intense photon field of the stellar companion. We have applied a time-dependent leptonic model incorporating a full KleinNishina treatment of the Compton scattering as well as the angle dependence of the stellar radiation field to the broadband spectral energy distribution of LS 5039. We suggest that a modulation in the injection spectral index and the electron injection luminosity in addition to the γγ absorption might be a possible cause for the observed orbital modulation of the TeV flux and spectral shape. We do a detailed parameter study of various physical properties of the system to see their signature on the X-ray Hardness Intensity Diagrams (HID)s and light curves, predicting spectral hysteresis features, giving us an insight into the individual emission mechanisms in X-rays energies. Recent High Energy Stereoscopic System (HESS) observations show that microquasars in high-mass systems are sources of very high energy γ-rays. A leptonic jet model for microquasar γ-ray emission is developed. Using the head-on approximation for the Compton cross section and taking into account angular effects from the star’s orbital motion, we derive expressions to calculate the spectrum of γ r...

متن کاملHigh-energy Γ-ray Emission from Microquasars: Ls 5039 and Ls I +61 303
The possible associations between the microquasars LS 5039 and LS I +61 303 and the EGRET sources 3EG J1824−1514 and 3EG J0241+6103 suggest that microquasars could also be sources of high-energy γ-rays. In this work, we present a detailed numerical inverse Compton (IC) model, based on a microquasar scenario, that reproduces the high-energy γ-ray spectra and variability observed by EGRET for the...

Jet models for the high-energy emission of Galactic X-ray binary sources have regained significant interest with detailed spectral and timing studies of the X-ray emission from microquasars, the recent detection by the HESS collaboration of very-high-energy $\gamma$-rays from the microquasar LS~5039, and the earlier suggestion of jet models for ultraluminous X-ray sources observed in many nearb...

The possible association between the microquasar LS 5039 and the EGRET source 3EG J1824−1514 suggests that microquasars could also be sources of high-energy γ-rays. In this paper, we explore, with a detailed numerical model, if this system can produce the emission detected by EGRET (>100 MeV) through inverse Compton (IC) scattering. Our numerical approach considers a population of relativistic ...
